Teen Space

Twinkle Twinkle Tin Star

I am a science fiction fan and enjoy finding a good tale that doesn’t rely on dragons or magic. I recommend Tin Star by Cecil Castellucci.  Fourteen year old Tula Bane is travelling to a remote space colony with her family.  She is beaten and left behind on an alien space station.  She learns to survive by running errands and trading.  She is the only human on the space station for several years. Then the galactic government changes, a liason ship between the new government and the Human colonies explodes and three Human teenagers are stranded on the space station.  This book had charismatic aliens, humans with hidden motives and secret agendas, and a brave intelligent heroine. I recommend this galactic thriller to SciFi fans grades nine on up.
