Out of the Basement

In the mood for a spooky read but tired of the usual vampires and zombies? Try Fiendish by Brenna Yavanoff.  Clementine DeVore has been trapped in the cellar of her burnt down house for ten years, tangled in roots and dreaming.  The Reckoning came when Clementine was seven. The magic in the Hollow started leaking out toward the town and the townspeople reacted in fear.  They burned the houses of the families in the Willows.  Families that are descended from the Fiends of the hollow.  Families that still practice the craft. A boy named Fisher frees Clementine.  Clementine is shocked to find that only her cousin, Shiny, remembers that she exists.  And, now that she is awake, the magic in the hollow is starting to leak out again. I recommend to fans of the paranormal in grades nine on up.
