Readers Corner: Award Winners


The Nobel Prize for Literature – Given to an internationally acclaimed author each year.


The Man Booker PrizeAwarded each year to an author from Great Britain or one of the Commonwealth Nations.


Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association Book Award –Recognizes excellence in writing from Washington,Oregon, Alaska,Montana and Idaho for books published within the current calendar year.


Pulitzer Prize – Awarded each year to the best American fiction book along with other categories in arts and literature.

 

Hugo Awards  --Also known as the Science Fiction Achievement Award, this is recognized by Sci-Fi fans as a excellent site to find a good book.


National Book Award --This prestigious award encompasses awards for young people's literature as well as adult fiction and non-fiction. Sherman Alexie won this past year for his first young adult novel, "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian."


Edgar Award -- The Mystery Writers of America present a statue of Edgar Allan Poe to the best mystery of the year.  Recently won by Spokane's own Jess Walter for "Citizen Vince."
