Von Holt creates Sumi-e (pronounced su-me-a) Asian style watermedia and Western watercolor art. She started out by enrolling in a drawing and basic watercolor class. When her instructor left for a European trip, she took over the class and started teaching at SFCC.

She is inspired by Winslow Homer and Johannes Vermeer in addition to the influence of the beautiful Northwest nature around us.

Keiko Von Holt has been an artist for 23 years and utilizes rice paper and black ink for Sumi-e, and traditional watercolor pigment and paper for her Western watercolor art.
